My sister and I were very little when my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.  Every Wednesday, my sister Aiyana, my Mom and I would meet with my Grandma-whom we called Mambi at a local diner and have lunch together.  The day she forgot to come was the day my Mom knew that something was wrong.

Alzheimer’s is a disease that affects the memory, one time Mambi either forgot how to correctly hold her glass or that her glass was full, and was holding it upside down as she slowly shuffled from our dining room to our kitchen.  As she walked, I was right beside her with a paper towel soaking up the mess before anyone would notice.

I never really knew Mambi for who she was before the disease.

August 21, 2007, Mambi passed away.

I started this foundation so no one would have to go through what my family have been through.  Every card purchase will help further the research advancement of Alzheimer’s.  My grandmother always enjoyed my artwork, she kept it on her fridge and on her walls, I think she would be very happy to see what I have done with my artwork to support alzheimer’s.

Thank you for supporting Art 4 Alzheimers!
